Fresh Roast Plus 8 Home Coffee Roaster

The Fresh Roast Plus 8 is designed to roast approximately 3 ounces of coffee beans at one time. 3 ounces of roasted beans will yield 12-16 cups of drip coffee. Roast times average about 6 minutes with a 2 minute "cool down" period.

The Fresh Roast Plus is the easiest to use roaster available today. It is also the simplest, and the most durable. We recommend it as a starter roaster because of its ease of use, but many long-time home roasters still use it regularly...because it's a good roaster.

There is only one control on the Fresh Roast, that being the timer knob. It is a mechanical timer with stamped markings on the knob for roasting minutes and the "cool" cycle. Being rather small, it is not extremely accurate as a timer, but it controls the heating element and the fan. During the roast cycle it turns on the heating element and the fan; the heater switches off when the roaster enters the cool cycle. There is also an audible difference in pitch when the heater switches off, so it is easy to tell when the cool cycle starts.

The ROASTING CHAMBER is a clear glass tube and the new ones are marked with a "fill to here" line to make it easy. The roasting chambers are significantly improved over the previous units: the base ring is now made of an aluminum alloy and virtually break-proof, the glass itself is higher quality and more uniform in size and shape, and the handle is, well...a nice handle.

Care should be taken not to touch any part of the glass or the new aluminum base ring during or closely after roasting because it gets very hot. Care should also be taken to ensure the roasting chamber is COMPLETELY DRY after washing it - even one drop of water in a seam at the base can cause the glass to crack when exposed to the heat necessary to roast coffee beans.
